I like this book very much! Persuasive, interesting, and obviously written by people who have done this stuff.

This book is excellent. The project examples ring true and I'm sure it will be an invaluable aid to those looking for quicker delivery times - which I guess is everyone!

With increased competition, quick releases that match the ever-changing demands of the market have become a critical part of the development cycle for software. Andy Carmichael and Dan Haywood have teamed up to offer not just another theory about a process, but a very pragmatic, example-rich guide based on real-world project experience. Here is a solid foundation of ideas than can indeed help teams build software better and faster.

I have read good books about how to develop software, but this one goes to another level. It gives a lucid explanation of the principles that are needed to understand and manage the reality of iterative and evolutionary software development. While identifying key ideas behind good software processes, it is also eminently practical – the authors obviously enjoy making software that works. As an added bonus the book demonstrates how to put these principles to good use with Together ControlCenter. The book includes a significant application, complete with requirements model and a full suite of tests. This is an example that teaches. As an experienced Together user I was pleased to find some more advanced tips and tricks here too.

I found this book really helpful in preparing a recent briefing to software managers, particularly with respect to the benefits of automating Audits and Metrics (Chapter 6), and the flexibility of adding an enterprise’s own A & M tests to reinforce their style and standards… It’s an invaluable source of insight and information.
